When should we start dance lessons?

Many couples think it’s best to take classes just before the wedding so they “don’t forget the steps.” But that often leads to a stiff, robotic dance — not because of memory, but due to lack of real practice.

Based on years of experience, we recommend starting at least 2 months in advance — and ideally, 6 months or more! This way, you can truly enjoy the journey, gain confidence, and arrive at your big day feeling relaxed and joyful.

Plus, after every class, we provide videos with your full choreography and everything you’ve learned — so nothing gets lost and everything flows naturally.

What’s the ideal length for the couple’s first dance?

The perfect length for a first dance is usually 2 to 3 minutes. That’s enough time to move hearts, shine on the dance floor, and keep your guests captivated — without the moment feeling too long or awkward.

If you’d like to include more than one song or mix different dance styles, you can extend it to up to 5 minutes, keeping that time as a special spotlight just for the couple.

As for dances with parents or family members, there’s no strict limit — it all depends on how many people you’d like to involve and how you want to shape that beautiful moment.

How often should we take dance lessons?

Ideally, you should take one class per week, starting with plenty of time in advance. This gives you the chance to practice between sessions and progress smoothly and evenly as a couple.

If the wedding is coming up soon, you can pick up the pace with 2 or even 3 classes per week, and in urgent cases — daily lessons are also possible!

We don’t recommend spacing classes more than a week apart, as that can slow down learning and even lead to setbacks.

Consistency makes all the difference — and dancing becomes much more fun!

When is the best time for the couple’s first dance?

There are three popular moments to have your wedding dance:

1. Upon entering the reception:
Traditionally, couples would dance as they entered the venue, right after the ceremony, often accompanied by a toast and the start of the waltz.

2. During dinner:
While guests are listening to speeches and thank-yous, this moment turns the dance into a heartfelt, meaningful highlight.

3. At the start of the party:
This is the most popular option today. After dinner, the lights dim, the music begins… and your first dance opens the celebration with a magical touch.
